Department Of Tourism Bursary Forms, The Department of Tourism, as one of the South African government departments, is responsible for the development and promotion of tourism within South Africa, as well as from other countries to South Africa.



The departments vision is to create tourism development that is sustainable, to allow for economic growth in South Africa. The aim is to increase investment within the countries tourism sector, develop a culture of tourism amongst South Africans, increase inbound tourism, and increase how the sector contributes to economic growth and job creation.
 

ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED

The Department of Tourism will be awarding bursaries to students within the following fields:



  • Accounting/ Finance
  • Economics
  • Internal Auditing
  • Statistics
  • Risk Management
  • Computer Science
  • Communications (Website Design/ Graphic Design)
  • LLB
  • Tourism Management
  • Construction Project Management (Management of Tourism Infrastructure: Monitoring, Procedures and Regulations)
  • Environmental Management
  • Quantity Surveyor
  • Social Science (specialising in Evaluation and Monitoring)
  • Heritage, Tourism and Culture (Creative Industries)
  • Enterprise Development

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):



  • South African citizen
  • Completed Matric
  • Studying full-time within one of the aforementioned fields of study
  • Studying at a recognised South African tertiary institution
  • NOT currently employed
  • NOT a staff member of The National Department of Tourism

Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your completed application form (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application be disregarded):

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Matric certificate (certified copy)
  • Other qualification certificates, if applicable (certified copies)
  • Recent academic records (certified copy)
  • Confirmation of registration (if currently registered to study at a tertiary institution)
  • Proof of household income (latest payslips if parents/ guardians are employed OR affidavit if parents/ guardians are unemployed)
  • Admission letter
  • Research proposal (Honours and Masters degree students only)
  • Motivational letter
