This government department has bursaries available for qualifying candidates each year to study further in a field they love that is seen as critical and scarce in the sectors of their industry.  Their bursaries are to aid the financially restricted candidates that have great potential and a desire to study further.



Bursary Details:

The Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF) intends to award comprehensive bursaries to qualifying applicants pursuing and/or intending to further their studies in critical scarce skills in the agricultural, forestry and fisheries sectors for the 2018 academic year.
The bursary will cover

  • Tuition,
  • Accommodation,
  • Books,
  • Meals and
  • Monthly allowance.

The bursary awards target the previously disadvantaged and impoverished persons from poverty-stricken and rural communities.



DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE BURSARIES AVAILABLE

The bursary programme is open to both undergraduate and postgraduate students within the following fields of study:
BSc degrees:

  • Bioresource Engineering (Agricultural Engineering)
  • Entomology
  • Food Science
  • Forestry and Wood Science
  • Ichthyology (Specialising in Aquaculture)
  • Marine Biology
  • Oceanography and Marine Biology
  • Plant Pathology
  • Viticulture and Oenology

BVSc degree:

  • Bachelor of Veterinary Science

National Diplomas:

  • Food Technology
  • Forestry
  • Marine Science

Postgraduate studies:

  • All agriculture, forestry and fisheries fields linked to DAFF priority research projects (B.Sc./ B.Tech/ D.Tech/ M.Sc. Hons/ M.Tech/ Ph.D.)

 

DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE BURSARIES REQUIREMENTS

The requirements for fields of study as above will depend on the subjects needed for those fields although there are a few common basic requirements.  For the different study fields and their respective requirements please have a look at the information provided on the application.
The following will be required of all candidates:



  • All candidates must be South African citizens with a valid ID Book or ID Card.
  • All candidates must supply certified copies of income for both parents.
  • All candidates must supply certified copies of their academic results.
  • All candidates must have Mathematics and Physical Science as subjects.
  • All candidates must be previously disadvantaged, poverty-stricken or from deep rural communities.

The following items must accompany your application form:
Undergraduate students:

  • ID document (certified copy),
  • Matric/ Grade 12 results/ academic record (certified copy),
  • Qualification certificates (certified copy),
  • University admission/ acceptance letter (certified copy),
  • Parents/ guardians proof of income (latest payslips) (certified copy) OR proof of SASSA grant income (certified copy) OR death certificates (certified copy).


Postgraduate students:

  • ID document (certified copy),
  • Latest complete academic record (certified copy),
  • Qualification certificates (certified copy),
  • University admission/ acceptance letter (certified copy),
