Department Of Public Works Young Professionals Programme

The Young Professionals Program (YPP) is a starting point for an exciting career at the World Bank Group.
It is a unique opportunity for younger talent who have both a passion for international development and the leadership potential to grow in fascinating top technical and managerial roles in the World Bank Group (WBG). The program is designed for highly qualified and motivated individuals skilled in areas relevant to WBG technical/operations such as economics, finance, education, public health, social sciences, engineering, urban planning, agriculture, natural resources and others.
To be competitive for this highly selective program, candidates need to demonstrate a commitment to development, proven academic success, professional achievement, and leadership capability.





The Deputy Minister of Public Works, Jeremy Cronin, accompanied by his counterpart from Higher Education and  Training,  Mduduzi  Manana, honoured 14 young professionals who participated in the 2012 Department of Public Works Young Professionals Programme in Pretoria.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister Cronin said the programme was an important initiative of the department, aimed at giving young professionals in the built environment opportunities to enter the job market and contribute to the economy.

Fourteen youngsters were absorbed into the programme and placed in various projects of the department with a mentor supervising each of them.



They ranged from quantity surveyors, planners, architects and architectural technologists.
